ASTANA Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan authoritarian President was leaked U.S. diplomatic dispatches described as vain, vengeful liar and authorities allegedly fear his being killed so much that a stray cat was a suspect.
Memos from U.S. Embassy staff in Turkmenistan on Thursday on the WikiLeaks site published represent the reclusive former Soviet Central Asian nation as a beehive of corruption under the authority of a dimwitted autocrat.
In a cable dated in December last year, President Gurbanguli Berdymukhamedov is called by US officials "in vain, suspicious, guarded, strict, very conservative, a practiced liars," a good actor and vindictive.
