Wealthy businessman Shrien Dewani returned £ 250,000 in deposit on Friday night after his family paid and he was released from Wandsworth prison in London.

The move came despite prosecutors say the Court there were significant new evidence demonstrating a "very powerful" case against him.

Dewani is his new wife Anni, 28 by the South African police for conspiracy, wanted to kill the was in a deserted taxi in Cape Town on November 13 shot dead found.

Prosecutor Ben Watson said the Court, "the net was close" and Dewani should be granted bail "on the strictest conditions".

Dewani, of the Westbury on Trym, Bristol, faces electronic tagging, home curfew and having to daily to the police to pending more extradition hearings.

His family welcomes the bail decision to say in a joint statement: "we are all glad that the courts consistently Shrien Dewani's right to deposit confirmed."
