Hundreds of thousands of new year welcomes in 2011 with a bang, packaging shows streets to see spectacular fireworks illuminate the sky of London and Edinburgh night owls.
An estimated 250,000 partygoers gathered pyrotechnics extravaganza to the London Eye for the capital, while some 80,000 people visited the annual Hogmanay party in Edinburgh.
And the festivities continue with a half million people expected flock to Westminster of for the 25th new year's Day Parade.
The metropolitan police, who had 3,000 officers on duty, said while London's new year's Eve made 77 arrests. Offences were most (24) for public order during 16 night owls for attack and five for sexual crimes were arrested.
Crowds gathered on the banks of the River Thames and spilled in Trafalgar Square, display a midnight lit music together with Fireworks heaven on blow.
The heavy cloud cover failed to hinder the spectacular 10 minute display which song 2 shoot showers of colorful fireworks from the London eye to a soundtrack including Queen's we will rock you, the Beatles Lucy in the sky with diamonds and blur's saw.
Erin Wilkins, 26, and Emad Tehrani, 30, travelled from Sydney Australia to see the new year in London.
Mrs Wilkins, said: "we have here since lunch was queuing and I think these are the best Fireworks I've ever seen."
"I was really good as was the fireworks from three different places." "It was fantastic."
Peter and Harriet Hughes traveled to see the fireworks display 18-month-old daughter Phoebe Cardiff in Wales.
