But one Scottish Government spokesman said: "The Scottish Government doubt the conviction of Megrahi."

Col Gaddafi spoke about the bombers to staff and students at the London School of Economics by video link on Thursday.
Reportedly he said: "his health was not looked after in prison." He had no periodic examination. I wish him a long life.
"After he died, his family will require compensation because he was deliberately neglected in prison."
The application was rejected by the Scottish Prison Service. A spokesman said: "He got the high level of NHS care that would get someone else in the prison system."
Jim Swire, whose Tochter flora in the tragedy was killed, said Col Gadaffi's intervention was "remarkable" after the North African leader "satisfied" appeared after the release of Megrahi.
Mr Swire said that each step for compensation "focus on overturning the judgment would require" against Mr Megrahi.
"During the Colonel a man whose views simply change is can he has virtually unlimited financial resources at his disposal," added Mr Swire.
"He succeeded in early September very clearly that he wanted to see the judgment overturned, claimed that it had reached political pressure only under improper."
