Are a step closer the United States and Brazil to an open skies air transport agreement, that would remove restrictions on the number of flights in one of the most attractive Latin American markets October 2015.
The planned deal would allow more flights from coming October and phase in more access to Brazil's two busiest airports in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro by October 2015, in time for the summer Olympics in Rio in the following year.
The United States has already decided 100 open skies offerings including a recent landmark Pact with Japan, but Brazil classified along with China and Russia in a handful of major markets where airline operations have been closely regulated.
The offers can airlines to bring to international routes and also include provisions for cooperation in the field of security and safety grant. An open skies agreement is for the U.S. Justice Department airline alliance partners antitrust immunity cooperate on schedules, fares and marketing required.
The State Department said on Monday it had agreed on the framework towards an open skies agreement with Brazil.
