More snow showers, the forecast for East of the Kingdom in cold snap - the guardian

Meteorologists say the cold snap continues showers with freezing temperatures and snow down the East side of the United Kingdom within the next 24 hours, although the snow probably isn't as hard as, which is experienced in Scotland.

The AA handles with 24,000 breakdowns yesterday when compared with the normal UK day picture of 10,500 and, more than 2,500 calls an hour. 3,000 Was the most common problem calls to the RAC one hour, with dead batteries.

More than half of all schools in Northern Ireland were closed today due to the continuing deep freeze, as were about 50 schools in Yorkshire and 70 in Cumbria. On the track, the East coast line between London and Edinburgh ran a reduction in service and some northern rail services in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire were cancelled.

A police helicopter was called, to a dog Walker, a snow covered slope down save fallen 30 ft. Cleveland police found the 51-year-old woman with thermal imaging cameras and was flown to the hospital.

North Yorkshire opened inquest into the death of a man who was killed after the issue, to help stranded motorists in freezing conditions on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Paul Clarkson, 57, East Appleton had stopped to help his Land Rover, a car recover from a ditch, when he was struck by another vehicle on 2 December.

Freezing fog is expected to stay in the Midlands and South of England. Police in Central Scotland urged motorists not to travel unless your trip was essential.
