WASHINGTON – Jordan is intensifying efforts to its largest bank to protect several lawsuits in New York who claim, it helped fund terrorist operations, cases which stir tension between the USA and one of his closest allies of the Middle East.

"You wouldn't want on the other, seem to stand in way of the victims of terrorism."
After six years of litigation, the first case where Americans is allegedly killed by Hamas, its way towards the study of Brooklyn Court winding.
There, in July judge Nina Gershon imposed tough sanctions on Arab Bank, after refusing with hand on client records in half a dozen related civil matters, citing banking secrecy laws in Jordan and other countries where it operates. Judge Gershon said Arab Bank should be punished to stop it, gaining an unfair advantage from the "transgression" to produce the records.
She found the available evidence showed that claims would probably support missing documents of the applicant. So they ruled that a jury on an upcoming study derive from the Bank would be refusal to produce the records free that it knowingly provided financial services of terrorists.
Under the order, the Bank would also argue that it is to know that people who receive payments were terrorists or commit no intention of all offences - excludes one important defence - because these claims really proved or disproved by the missing documents.
Jordan's short, last month on New York's second circuit court appeal, filed new year's Eve sermon July order as "affront to the Kingdom of sovereignty." Jordan's letter also argued that damage to the Bank is a vital cog in the Middle East economy, global fight against terrorism could undermine efforts, by pushing customers in underground financial system where transactions can be tracked. "I remember no foreign country have ever argued in a suit in which it is not directly involved in a U.S. Court decision should be repealed because it would threaten diplomatic relations," said Allan Gerson, a lawyer representing some of the applicant. Such an attitude, he adds, "serious consequences for the capacity of foreign governments intervene in our judicial system might."
Arab Bank denies the accusations against him, to say only if "Routine banking services" people do not know that it was involved in terrorism.
"Arab Bank has a long history of promoting economic development, stability and security in the Middle East in Jordan one of the closest allies of America, and the areas under the control of the Palestinian Authority, including", says Kevin Walsh, a lawyer for the Bank.
The Bank has to check the New York Court of appeal asked whether judge of Gershon's a chance was order too far to deny it to defend themselves.
Arab Bank has received expressions of support from the Lebanese Government and the Palestinian Authority who said in letters to the Court the lifting of their privacy to avoid the formal banking system people would cause laws.
Arab Bank paid a civil penalty of $24 million in 2005 to U.S. banking found lacking adequate money laundering controls to prevent it from being used for terrorist financing. The Bank said the fine and the consent order, the matter behind them are agreed.
