The coalition Government on his campaign promises commitment thousands more midwives despite maternity services throughout England recruit to a "cracking" broken health workers warned today.
The Royal College of midwives (RCM) said that, despite repeated requests, Prime Minister David Cameron, his Deputy, Nick Clegg and Health Minister Andrew Lansley all it had failed their commitment to the setting of 3,000 extra midwives honor.
"The silence of the Government is, Secretary General of the RCM deafening" Cathy Warwick told delegates at their annual Conference in Manchester.
The RCM showed that maternity confronted units budget cuts and layoffs despite using a high birth rate and more complex deliveries, pointed to a recent report.
The birth rate is in the last decade to increased 19 percent but the midwives to 12.1 percent increase.
At least 3,500 extra midwives, called Ms Warwick add: "I fear for the future of maternity benefits, the quality of care is covered and that the security could be compromised."
"I think it is getting to the point where it is really cracking at the point."
Unison General Secretary Dave Prentis said it is "a disgrace" who threatened the lives of mothers and babies in this way.
He warned that the situation is even worse might like NHS, encrypted so-called efficiency savings of 20 billion £ freezes setting and make layoffs.
Despite strong evidence of a lack of midwives, a conservative party spokesman said: "the commitment to 3,000 midwives made where... was not in the coalition agreement because now you beat forecasts the birth rate is stable in the coming years be."
